Wanted! NUI Galway Cell EXPLORERS Interns 2016 !

WANTED! Enthusiastic “volunteer coordinator” and “Head prep” interns to work with Cell EXPLORERS at NUI Galway! Cell EXPLORERS (www.cellexplorers.com) develop and deliver science outreach activities through school visits, exhibitions and visits to science festivals. The Cell EXPLORERS team is largely made up of volunteers, including NUI Galway undergraduate, postgraduate students and research scientists who love to share their enthusiasm for all things science. This is a chance to be involved in a fun, dynamic programme and to gain valuable skills in organization, communication and teamwork. ReelLife Science 2016 has been announced!

ReelLIFE SCIENCE 2016, run by our friend Enda O'Connell, is giving €3000 to Irish schools for the best science videos! ReelLIFE SCIENCE is looking for teachers and students with a passion for science, who can communicate a science topic via an entertaining and engaging short video. These can be live action, animated, or even made with a smartphone. This year topics include The Heart, Life in Space, Science and Me, Our Many Senses and The Science of Farming for Primary Schools. Secondary School Topics are The Brain, Myths Busted! How Things Work, Irish Science Heroes and Everyday Biotechnology ! The Cell EXPLORERS badges are out!

The Cell EXPLORERS Badges have now been awarded to all Cell EXPLORERS team members fulfilling requirements for each badge. Congratulations! We have awarded a total of 87 badges to 63 team members from NUI Galway, Athlone IT and University of Limerick. These includes 67 demonstrator, 7 leader, 8 Communicator, 6 creator and 3 achiever badges. Well done! These badges recognise and reward team members for their participation to the Cell EXPLORERS programme by awarding them a digital badge matching their specific involvement.
